The proposals in the Surat plan include construction of 10,000 houses for urban poor in Kosad where Municipal Corporation has earmarked a big plot of land for the purpose.
State joint secretary for urban development, Mahesh Singh, told TOI that the civic body has also pleaded for financial assistance for its integrated urban transport system.
The SMC has also proposed a drinking water project. According to Singh, a sum of Rs 4,600 crore has been proposed for the seven-year development plan of Surat city while an additional Rs 1,400 crore will go for SUDA areas.
The NURM would, as per its guidelines, provide 50 per cent of the cost for projects in Surat and other cities in Gujarat.
